Journalism and Storytelling Program for Health Policies

In collaboration with AstraZeneca, LALP conducted the Journalism and Storytelling Program for Health Policies with the aim of equipping journalists with new knowledge and skills, tools, and practical networks to promote the media as agents of change in society, particularly in relation to public health issues.

The participants meet twice a week to take part in virtual modules from November 20 to December 13, 2023. During this time, participants engaged in tailored classes designed by Georgetown University faculty. Participants then convened in Washington DC from March 4 to March 6 , 2024 at Georgetown University for in-person classes with university professors and visited the Headquarters of AstraZeneca and the Pan-American Health Organization (WHO).

This personalized program aims to expose participants to innovative ideas on specific topics related to public health. Additionally, it connects participants with scientists and experts from leading national and international health institutions, creating links to diverse sources. Finally, it promotes leadership in action and provides participants with new knowledge on topics related to digital journalism and technology to enable them to become agents of change in their countries.

This is the second edition of the program. The first version took place at Georgetown University from September 28 to September 30, 2022, with the virtual component running from October 1 to October 31 of the same year.

Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program is part of these joint initiatives with companies in the region to strengthen the skills and abilities of future leaders in the private sector. If you are interested in working with LALP on a personalized program, please contact us.
