Note: This event is part of an exclusive series organized by and for GBEL alumni.
The Alumni Committee of the Global Business Executive Leadership (GBEL) program is pleased to invite GBEL alumni to the second session of the “From One to Many” talk series—an initiative created by them to strengthen connections and foster continuous learning within the GBEL alumni community.
Following a successful first session featuring Patricia Pomies, this series continues to provide a space for meaningful exchange between GBEL alumni and influential business leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
A Conversation with Albert Douer
This upcoming session will feature Albert Douer, who will share insights on innovation, leadership, and shaping a vision for a better future. His experience and perspective will offer valuable takeaways for alumni looking to drive impact in their organizations and communities.
Albert Douer is Chairman and CEO of UBQ Materials. Founded in 2012, UBQ created a pioneering bio-based sustainable material, UBQ™, made entirely of mixed household waste, including all organics.
For the first 35 years of his career, Mr. Douer worked at the Darnel Group, where he and his father grew a small family business in Colombia into a leader in the construction materials and food packaging industry with operations in over 15 countries.
At Darnel, Mr. Douer developed the understanding and skills required to drive his commitment to the transformation of the materials industry. Today, in addition to leading UBQ Materials, he is a board member of Daika Wood, a company turning wood waste back into virgin wood, saving forests and natural habitats, and Biotic, an early startup developing natural polymers to replace plastic in food packaging.
He also serves as a board member of Endeavor, a global organization that supports high-impact entrepreneurs and mentors a myriad of innovators. Mr. Douer received his A.B. in Economics at Harvard University and an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the Wharton School of Business.
