Juan Luis Manfredi Sánchez (Seville, Spain, 1977) is a Prince of Asturias professor at the School of Foreign Service (Georgetown University).

He is a professor of Journalism and International Studies at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. He has been academic director of the Observatory for the Transformation of the Public Sector at ESADE Business School (2016-2022).

He writes about public diplomacy and propaganda, international relations and diplomacy, communication and political leadership, as well as political risk and crises of the liberal order. As a journalist, he is a contributor to the economic newspaper Cinco Días and the regional channel CMM Radio, as well as The Conversation or Agenda Pública. He has been a finalist for the El Ciervo-Enrique Ferrán award (2020) for the text “In Praise of Democratic Boredom” and for the Citi Award for Journalistic Excellence (2015) for “Hubs, axes of industry and knowledge of the 21st century”, published in Economía Exterior (Summer, 69).

He is a member of the editorial board of Esglobal.com, a reference magazine for international journalism in Spanish, as well as academic journals (Journal of Public Diplomacy, South Korea; Revista Estudios Internacionales, Chile). He has been a member of the scientific council of the Elcano Royal Institute (2014-2019).
