Carol Blymire
School of Continuing Studies
Fearless Tweeter. Really crappy telemarketer. Carol is the CEO of Blymire Communications where she provides thought leadership, positioning, strategic communications, and personal branding counsel to Fortune 100 corporations, national non-profits, celebrity foundations, and everything in between. Prior to starting her own company, Carol worked in President George H.W. Bush's speechwriting office, served as corporate spokesperson for MCI and Fannie Mae, and ran international PR for Discovery Channel. She further honed her strategic communications chops at Cone with clients like General Mills, the NIH, and the Department of Labor. Her thought leadership and personal branding experience extends to her own personal and professional life where, in addition to her thriving public policy and PR business, she built an additional career in food and pop culture media, contributing to The Washington Post, Saveur, Martha Stewart, and Washingtonian, among others. Carol volunteers with The Smithsonian Institution as a transcriber of historical documents for their digital files, and serves as a NASA citizen-scientist. Carol is a native of the Pennsylvania Dutch country (Mt. Wolf, PA; pop. 800), but has called Washington, DC home for more than half her life. She's the resident Gladys Kravitz of her Takoma Park neighborhood. Also, back when people sent information via fax machines, she pitched and landed a joke on Saturday Night Live (thanks, Kevin Nealon!). Carol got her BA in Communications and Psychology from The George Washington University, and earned her Master's in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University. She also completed two professional certification programs: the Harvard-MIT Public Disputes program (crisis communications and reputation management); and the U.C. Berkeley Science of Happiness at Work program.
