Alvaro Santos
Law Center
Alvaro Santos is a Professor of Law and Faculty Director of the Center for the Advancement of the Rule of Law in the Americas. He joined the Law Center faculty in 2007 and is a member of the Georgetown Americas Institute Faculty Committee. He teaches and writes in the areas of international trade, economic development, transnational labor law and drug policy.
International activities include:
- Co-authored report on "Trade, Economy, and Work: A Shared Agenda for a Stronger Economic Future" (2021) in collaboration with the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at UC-San Diego.
- Co-edited World Trade and Investment Law Reimagined: A Progressive Agenda for an Inclusive Globalization (2019), Law and the New Developmental State: The Brazilian Experience in Latin America (2013) and The New Law and Economic Development: A Critical Appraisal (2006).
- Serves on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Comparative Law, the Journal of International Economic Law, the Law and Development Review, and the Latin American Journal of International Trade Law.
- Held the co-director position at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London from 2014 to 2015.
