Marcel Van Hattem (GCL 2009, Brazil) Awarded the Order of Rio Branco

GCL alumnus 2009, Federal Deputy Marcel van Hattem (NOVO-RS) was awarded the Order of Rio Branco by President Jair Bolsonaro to "encourage the practice and achievements worthy of honorable mention" and to "distinguish meritorious services and civic virtues." Deputy Marcel received the honor with the rank of Grand Officer, being the only Gaucho congressman to be awarded the Order on this occasion.

Established on February 5, 1963, the Order bears the name of the Brazilian diplomat, Barão do Rio Branco. The honorees are divided into two categories - Ordinary and Supplementary. The first, with limited vacancies, is for active Brazilian diplomats, and the second one for retired diplomats and all other individuals or legal entities, national or foreign, who may be awarded the Order.

My role in politics is to make Brazil a better country for all Brazilians and a more respected one in the international arena," said representative Marcel.
