LALP Presents the IDB Capacity-Building Workshop
On October 2, 2025, Georgetown University’s Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) hosted a custom one-day capacity-building workshop for a regional group at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The program was designed to strengthen team collaboration and explore emerging challenges and opportunities in the field of global development.
The day began with an interactive Team Dynamics Lab, led by executive coach Diane Garza, which focused on building psychological safety and uncovering team patterns that may hinder collaboration. Through dynamic activities, participants practiced applying emotional intelligence to real work scenarios, identifying micro-habits that foster trust, productive dialogue, and better decision-making.
Workshop participants also engaged with Georgetown University faculty in a series of thought-provoking discussions covering key global and regional topics, including International Development in a Changing World, U.S. Politics and Power Dynamics, and Geopolitics in Latin America: Regional Tensions and Opportunities. These sessions helped participants connect their team’s internal dynamics with the complex policy and geopolitical contexts in which they operate.
The program’s experiential design aimed to equip participants with actionable strategies for leading in cross-border, multidisciplinary environments where speed, inclusion, and coordination are critical. By the end of the workshop, program participants had developed a shared language for trust, collaboration, and effective communication, as well as practical frameworks they can replicate across their departments.
LALP’s approach to regionally-focused executive education integrates cutting-edge academic insight with applied leadership development, enabling participants to turn knowledge into immediate action. This workshop is part of LALP’s ongoing commitment to supporting Latin American and Caribbean leaders in strengthening institutional capacity and advancing sustainable development across the region.
