Juan Ignacio Gowland, ILG 2023, Receives Honorable Mention from GovTech Groundbreakers 2023
Juan Gowland (ILG 2023, Argentina) received an honorable mention from GovTech Groundbreakers 2023, an event organized by GLASS. This recognition acknowledges exceptional individuals who exhibit remarkable leadership within the GovTech community. Those recognized demonstrate a profound commitment to innovation, sustainability, and collaboration within the public sector at an international level, are actively exploring novel approaches within government, leverage emerging technologies to drive public innovation, and are devoted to shaping a sustainable future.
Groundbreakers select people hungry for change and GovTech visionaries transforming governments worldwide. GLASS, a Silicon Valley e-Commerce startup revolutionizing the government procurement process, established this initiative. Their pioneering product, GLASS Commerce, powers government marketplaces for convenient and compliant small purchases. GLASS envisions a world where best-in-class government institutions and universally accessible public services become a reality, and with the premise that technology and collaboration are key to achieving this vision.
The honorable mention was awarded to a total of 10 remarkable GovTech leaders whose achievements stand as a source of inspiration:

This recognition was announced during Juan´s participation in the Innovation and Leadership in Government (ILG) program, an annual academic offering of the Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) at Georgetown University that every year brings together a select and diverse cohort of Latin American leaders from the public, social, multilateral, and international cooperation sectors to participate in an experiential program where participants exchange ideas and best practices and analyze innovation opportunities for some of the most urgent challenges facing the public and social sectors in Latin America. ILG goes beyond a traditional academic program, as it provides an innovative model to promote experiential learning and a unique networking platform to foster ties beyond the duration of the program.ILG participants apply their program learnings and experiences to develop a project within their organizations to be carried out by them upon their return to their countries. In this sense, and as part of his participation in the 2023 ILG program, Juan presented his project titled "Digital Talent: A Policy for Converting Digital Jobs." Juan project is designed to accelerate labor reconversion by fostering collaborative initiatives between Argentina's public and private sectors.
Juan currently holds the position of Government Relations Manager - Cluster South (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia) at BASF. Juan has maintained a strong focus on innovation and digital transformation in government settings throughout his career. He also serves as the Director of the Digital Government Diplomacy program at Austral University, and previously worked as a Digital Government Consultant and held the position of Senior Manager at PWC, specializing in digital advisory. Additionally, Juan has served as a project consultant at the IDB, among other roles. He is also recognized as a Hubert Humphrey Fellow (Fulbright).
