Latin America Leadership Program

On January 9^th, 2019,  the Digital Public Innovation Center of Colombia was recognized as one of the best public service teams of 2018 by Apolitical, a global network of public servants that connects ideas, people, and partners to solve the most pressing challenges in our societies.

A former member of the Innovation Center, Nubia Santofimio (ILG 2014) led knowledge management and supported the first development model of the Digital Public Innovation Center. Her participation in the first edition of Georgetown University’s Innovation and Leadership in Government program (ILG) allowed her to incorporate methodologies and tools for innovation in the public sector, as well as strengthen teamwork to achieve results and satisfy public needs and problems. Currently, Nubia is a consultant in the development of the Digital Government Policy for the Information Technology and Communications Ministry of Colombia.

The Digital Public Innovation Center was created by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies - MINTIC in 2013, with a multidisciplinary team consisting of administrators, political scientists, economists, journalists, lawyers, designers and engineers. Through application of design thinking methodologies, collaborative work, and generation of synergies between different public players, the center has managed to stimulate the use of digital technologies to generate public value.

Thanks to four lines of action: Knowledge, Laboratory, Capacities and Community, the Innovation Center has managed to publish about 300 successful cases in the use of digital and emerging technologies and some of the technological trends. The center has supported more than 60 public entities in the development of public digital innovation exercises. It has trained more than 1,100 public servants in the innovative use of ICT and built the first collaboration platform to facilitate the connection between stakeholders of the ecosystem of digital public innovation in Colombia.
